Returns & Refunds

Last updated February 2026 · The Wholesale Buyer Ltd, trading as StockMarketplace.co.uk.

StockMarketplace.co.uk is a B2B trade marketplace connecting verified UK trade buyers (resellers, retailers, market traders, exporters) with verified UK trade sellers (liquidators, brand overstock, returns aggregators, manufacturers). Every transaction is a business-to-business trade contract — the consumer-grade 14-day cooling-off period under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply. The policy below sets out the limited circumstances in which we accept returns and issue refunds.

The headline rule — all sales are final

All purchases on StockMarketplace.co.uk are final and non-refundable from the moment payment clears. Buyers are responsible for reviewing each listing in full — photographs, condition grade, lot manifest, quantity, VAT status, collection / delivery terms — and, where possible, inspecting the stock before purchasing at the seller's pickup location.

We do not accept returns for:

  • Buyer's remorse, change of mind, or "didn't resell".
  • Margin shortfall, slow sell-through or seasonality changes.
  • Condition concerns on graded "customer returns / mixed grade" stock where the grade was disclosed on the listing.
  • Buyers failing to collect a collection-only lot within the window agreed with the Seller.
  • Delivery delays inside the published 8 working-day window (see Shipping & Delivery).

When we DO accept returns — the 7-day issue window

We accept returns and process refunds only where the goods received are materially different from the goods sold. Specifically:

IssueEligible for refund?
Damaged in transitYes — full or partial
Short-shipped (units missing vs listing)Yes — pro-rata refund
Materially mis-described (wrong goods entirely)Yes — full refund + return shipping
Counterfeit goodsYes — full refund, seller suspended
Non-delivery (lost in transit, no tracking event 14 working days post-dispatch)Yes — full refund via courier claim
Buyer-remorse / change of mindNo
Resale failed / margin shortfallNo

You must notify the Seller and StockMarketplace.co.uk within 7 calendar days from delivery via the dispute button on the order page in your dashboard. Issues raised after day 7 cannot be processed under this policy as the goods are deemed accepted.

How to raise a return or refund request

  1. Open the order on your Orders dashboard within 7 calendar days of delivery.
  2. Click "Report an issue" and select the matching category (Damaged · Short-shipped · Mis-described · Counterfeit · Non-delivery).
  3. Attach clear, time-stamped evidence:
    • Photographs of the damaged goods and the outer packaging.
    • Photographs of the courier shipping label still attached.
    • For short-shipments: photo of the unpacked lot with a visible count.
    • For counterfeits: photo of the offending mark / hologram / serial number.
  4. The Seller has 3 working days to respond. The StockMarketplace.co.uk team is automatically copied in and will intervene if the Seller fails to respond or the parties cannot agree.
  5. Once a resolution is agreed (refund, partial refund, replacement or store credit), the Seller has 5 further working days to action it. Refunds are issued to the original Stripe payment method.

Who pays for return shipping?

  • Seller error (mis-described, counterfeit, wrong goods entirely): Seller pays return shipping and we arrange the collection via Parcel2Go or Palletways at the Seller's cost.
  • Damaged in transit: handled as a courier insurance claim — neither party pays return shipping. In most cases the goods are not physically returned; photographic evidence is sufficient for the claim.
  • Short-shipment: pro-rata refund only — no return shipping required.
  • Non-delivery: refund only — no return required.
  • If a partial refund is agreed by both parties and you keep the goods (most common outcome for mixed-grade lots), no return shipping is required.

How refunds are issued

  • All refunds are issued to the original Stripe payment method — we cannot refund to a different card or bank account.
  • Stripe typically takes 5–10 working days to return funds to your card-issuing bank once we trigger the refund. Some business credit cards take up to 14 working days.
  • Where the buyer's premium has already been recognised by The Wholesale Buyer Ltd, the premium element is refunded proportionally.
  • We'll email you a refund confirmation (with a PDF credit note for your accounts) the moment the refund is processed.

Chargebacks & bank disputes

Raising a chargeback or card-issuer dispute without first attempting resolution through the 7-day process above constitutes a material breach of our Buyer Terms. We reserve the right to (a) suspend or close your account, (b) debar you from future access to the platform, and (c) recover chargeback fees, platform losses and reasonable legal costs from you as a trade buyer.

This is a deliberately strict B2B policy — the resolution process above protects you and is fast. Use it.

Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any rights you have under the UK Sale of Goods Act 1979 or the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 as a business buyer (in particular the implied terms as to satisfactory quality, fitness for purpose and conformity with description). However, as a B2B trade contract, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 (including the 14-day cooling-off period) do not apply.
